Saturday morning hike in the Blue Hills - eastern Skyline Trail
Hi everyone, This time we'll hike the Skyline Trail marked by blue rectangles. The popular Skyline trail provides fantastic views and has many up and down hills over at least 3 miles. See attached for the hike plan highlighted in yellow. The hike will take a FULL 2-2-1/2 hours, depending on the pace. This event is for MODERATE/ADVANCED hikers. Take Exit 5 (28 North) off Rt. 93. Drive 1.7 miles on 28 North and then take a RIGHT onto Chickatawbut Road. We will meet at the small parking lot IMMEDIATELY on the right after you turn onto Chickatawbut Road. **This is not a loop trail so we will need volunteers to drive us to the start of the hike at Shea Rink and then other volunteers to drive some back to their cars at Chickatawbut Road parking after the hike (5 minute drive).** Please bring enough water (very important) and wear sturdy sneakers/hiking boots. Also, consider bringing a snack, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses and a hat.

The game plan is to warm-up with some rallies and then break out into some games or singles, doubles and round robin play! We are here to have fun, get to know each other and play Tennis! Braintree High School offers plenty of opportunity to play tennis on its 6 tennis courts and two practice backboards. Lizzie Borden and the 40 Whacks
On this day in 1892, the hatchet murders of Andrew and Abby Borden were discovered, causing panic and confusion. Come attend the reenactment of the trial, as you serve as the jury and help determine if Lizzie Borden did indeed deliver the 40 whacks! This program is jointly sponsored through a LSTA Tweens & Teens Grant through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and a grant from Braintree Cultural Council, a local agency, which is part of Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Earth Celebrations
Rona Leventhal, storyteller, performs for children of all ages in "Earth Celebrations". Rona's concert is part of the "Go Green at your library" Summer Reading Program. Children can sign up for the reading program in the Children's room and join in the fun all summer long. Go Green Bingo
Come have fun playing an exciting game of Bingo, with a "Go Green" theme.We'll be playing again on Friday August 27 at 2 pm. For age 5 up. Kayaking - Hingham Harbor Guided Tour
COST: $40 pp - MUST PAY CASH WHEN WE MEET RAIN DATE SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 15TH - SAME TIME & PLACE Minimum 15 members renting to book Entire Trip = noon - 4:00pm Hello Everyone - Join us for another Kayaking Adventure! This will prove to be a great experience. We've teamed up with Eastern Mountain Sports to plan a guided kayaking tour out of Hingham Harbor. We'll begin with a brief lesson and then begin our exploration of the inner Boston Harbor Islands and its National Park Lands on one of Eastern Mountain Sports most popular paddles. Our guide will discuss various history, water foul and point out notes of interest throughout our paddle. We'll take a break and stretch our legs on one of the many islands and have a snack as we talk about the extensive preservation work that has allowed this area to become a vital resource for all of its visitors. Come be a part of this fun paddle around Hingham Harbor! Great for all experience levels. DETAILS: We need a minimum of 15 members renting to book!! Please bring: water shoes a snack/lunch and beverage plenty of water sunscreen a hat No alcohol a smile for a good time Bringing your own boat: No cost need your own PFD, paddle and whistle WEATHER: Be sure to check your email either Friday night or Saturday morning for cancellation notice from me. World's End Family Hike and Kite Day
If you haven't been to World's End in Hingham, you'll be pleasantly surprised! Come at 10AM and we'll make kites for the kids and then attempt to go on a little hike. (and the kids can fly the kites or just run around) We can break up into groups and go at our own pace depending on the group size. I'll bring the kites and snacks/juice for the kids. World's End normally charges $5 per adult, but they'll give us a discount of $5 total per family. When you pull in, just mention you are with this group and they'll let you go in. I'll collect the money and write them a separate check from us. Thanks and hope to see you there!
